If the video has no transcript
Then there is nothing to read: Yappy works with published text, it does not transcribe the video's audio. This feature exists on iPhone; on Android, not yet.
Questions about this
Does it transcribe the video's audio?
No. Yappy takes the transcript the video already publishes and reads it to you like an article. That is fast, burns no video data and does not heat up your phone; but it does mean that if a video has no transcript, there is nothing to read.
What if the video has no transcript?
Then Yappy can do nothing with the link. If the video is yours and you have the file, share it as audio instead: the local ear will transcribe it inside the device.
Does it work on every video platform?
Wherever there is a published, reachable transcript. The feature exists on the iPhone; on the Android build, not yet.
Does it use much data?
Very little: it downloads a text, not a video. Half an hour of video is a few dozen kilobytes of transcript, and everything after that is done by your device.
